NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A man is in police custody and is facing child endangerment charges after his son, 5, was found alone wandering the streets of the Bronx.
The child was found near East 167th Street and Webster Avenue around 8:45 a.m. A passer-by spotted him and brought him to the 44th Precinct, where police kicked off a search for his parents.
Fast forward about 12 hours later, and the boy's father was taken into custody. He has not been charged yet, but he is expected to be charged with child endangerment.
The entire incident began after the man made arrangements with the child's mother, based on the time he had to go to work in the morning, about dropping off the boy. The unidentified mother never showed up. The child proceeded to wander outside.
Both parents were eventually located by the NYPD. Police declined to say where the mother was located. She was not taken into custody.
The boy is now in the custody of ACS.
