
But her friends and family were determined to not let the outbreak ruin her celebration. They showed up at her Brownsville home in cars, honking horns and dropping off gifts.
“Oh my God. I am so blessed to have family and friends like this. I’m just so appreciative. I can’t believe it,” Piprawala said.
She said it’s all the more meaningful given the current crisis.
“Today means more because these people did not have to come out their house to do any of this for me,” Piprawala said.
“This is just love. This is how we support each other,” her friend, Taisha Benjamin, said.
The excitement at the home still seemed to draw too many people together —police swung by to tell everyone the crowd was too large.
