NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Congestion pricing is taking another step towards reality as the MTA and the New York City Department of Transportation reached an agreement to work together on the program.
Both organizations will be responsible for putting together the infrastructure for and running the program but the MTA will cover all of the costs.
Mayor de Blasio told the Daily News that this agreement will “ensure effective coordination” between the MTA and the city.
Danny Pearlstien of the Riders Alliance who said the program “means a meaningful reduction in congestion and improved traffic conditions, air quality, safety on our streets, and really, an improved upgraded modern subway for the millions of New Yorkers who depend on it every day.”
