Crossing guard struck by vehicle outside of SI school

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A crossing guard was hit by a vehicle outside of a Staten Island school Wednesday morning, officials say.According to police, the NYPD employee was struck just after 8 a.m., while outside of Intermediate School 75 in the Woodrow section.The incident occurred as the driver was making a left from Woodrow Road onto Winant Avenue, police say. The guard was taken to Staten Island University Hospital in serious but stable condition.

Officials say she suffered a broken leg and a broken wrist.The 69-year-old driver was taken into custody.
