A 22-year-old Yeshiva student was the victim of an unprovoked attack on President Street as he spoke on his cellphone. He refused medical treatment.

The yeshiva student, who was born in Australia told the New York Post that he was left stunned by the attack.

"They didn't say anything at all," victim Mendel said. "Next thing I know, I was on the floor — my yarmulke and glasses in the gutter somewhere."

Police arrested 18-year-old Nzar Walters and 21-year-old Teshon Bannister. They were charged with assault and hate crimes. A third suspect is still on the loose.

A 51-year-old Hasidic man was attacked nearby. He was taken to a hospital for treatment. No arrest has been made in that case.

"This happened last night in Crown Heights, not in Charlottesville nor at the hands of White Supremacists," Rabbi Motti Seligson said. "I'm told they stole nothing just brutally beat the guy in what is clearly a premeditated attack."

The Anti-Defamation League is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information in these cases.
