NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Catching a commuter train in the Bronx is going to get easier.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo has announced a deal between the MTA and Amtrak to bring four new Metro-North stations to the borough.

"Too many residents of the Bronx have been without reliable transit, which is why I proposed these new stations," Governor Cuomo said. "With a reconstructed Moynihan Station currently underway, these four stations not only will connect the east Bronx to Manhattan's West Side, but also build upon our ongoing efforts to fully transform our state's transportation infrastructure."
The plan would open the new stops in Co-Op City, Morris Park, Parkchester/Van Nest, and Hunts Point by late 2022. The plan would bring commuters from the Bronx and New Rochelle to Penn Station.
"We are pleased to have reached a preliminary agreement that will allow for MTA to advance for design and construction of improvements on Amtrak's Hell Gate Line, for the eventual operation of new Metro-North commuter rail service into New York Penn Station and construction of four new stations along the line," Amtrak Senior Executive Vice President Stephen Gardner said.
Gardner said Amtrak and the MTA will also work to bring Amtrak intercity rail service to Long Island via the LIRR.
