NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – The human remains found at a Staten Island storage facility this week are that of missing 37-year-old teacher Jeanine Cammarata, the city's medical examiner confirmed Friday, shortly before the NYPD announced that her estranged husband Michael Cammarata, 42, and his girlfriend Ayisha Egea, 41 -- both of Queens --  have been arrested and charged with second-degree murder.

Both were also charged with concealment of a human corpse and tampering with physical evidence.

The remains, found inside a locker at the Extra Space Storage on Arden Avenue Thursday morning, were "charred and unrecognizable," the NYPD said at a press conference Thursday afternoon.

Michael Cammarata and Egea were reportedly seen on surveillance footage carrying a large container into a storage facility.

Police said Thursday that her estranged husband was the "primary suspect" in her disapperance, which is now considered a murder. He was taken into police custody Wednesday and charged with third degree assault and stalking on unrelated charges, police said.

Friends and family set up a memorial for Cammarata outside her home in New Brighton, with pictures, including a collage, along with flowers and candles.

Cammarata was last seen Saturday around 9 p.m. near Denker Place and McVeigh Avenue when she left her boyfriend's house and was en route to the home of Michael Cammarata. He admitted to assaulting her prior to her disappearance, but denied having anything to do with her missing.

She was reportedly leaving her boyfriend's New Springville apartment to meet her estranged husband. Her boyfriend filed a missing persons report on Tuesday after she failed to appear at work -- PS 29 -- on Monday and Tuesday.

The Cammaratas reportedly have a tumultuous relationship with prior domestic incident reports filed, and they are in the midst of divorce with an ongoing child custody battle in the court.

Her landlord, Jose Perez, says he was afraid of Cammarata.

"I told her just to be careful, you know, because I saw things escalating real quickly," Perez said.
