Father, son injured after NJ Transit train strikes car

RIVER EDGE, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- A father and son were injured after a NJ Transit train struck a car near New Bridge Landing in River Edge Thursday morning, suspending Pascack Valley Line service in both directions. 

Emergency responders were on the scene where firefighters worked to remove the vehicle's occupants who were trapped inside. 


The two people sustained non-life threatening injuries and were taken to Hackensack University Medical Center.

According to NorthJersey.com, both were conscious at the time of police response.

According to NJ Transit spokesperson Jim Smith, the Hoboken bound train had left spring valley at 6:50 a.m., when it struck the vehicle at approximately 7:30 a.m.

None of the 400 passengers of the train were injured.
