NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Former WFAN sports host Craig Carton was sentenced to 42 months in prison and 3 years probation in Manhattan federal court Friday.

The 50-year-old was convicted of financial fraud in a $5.6 million concert ticket scam and he used the proceeds, in part, to pay his gambling debts.

Defense attorneys had asked for a reduced sentence citing Carton’s charitable work helping children with Tourette’s syndrome as well as his addiction to gambling and the trauma he endured as a child.

Last month, the same judge sentenced Carton’s co-conspirator, Michael Wright, to 21 months in prison.

Another co-conspirator was sentenced to six and a half years in prison.

In conjunction with his sentencing, Carton is releasing a video called “The Reckoning” detailing his downfall, and finally his joining Gamblers Anonymous.

The video ends with him saying, “My name is Craig and I am a compulsive gambler. Last bet – June 22, 2018.”

Carton worked at WFAN, which is owned by Entercom, the same parent company as 1010 WINS.
