NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A 20-year-old man that was beaten into a coma by four men attempting to rob him has died, police confirmed on Wednesday.
On May 25 at approximately 11:30 a.m., John Martinez was punched in the head and thrown to the ground on 115th Street near 95th Avenue in the Richmond Hill section.
The four suspects, two of them teenagers, took his wallet and cellphone before fleeing.
Martinez, an East New York resident, was in a coma for over a week and succumbed to his injuries on June 4 at Jamaica Hospital, police said.
NYPD released surveillance footage after the attack and arrested and charged the four suspects on May 27 and May 28.
