Mother walking with son struck in Brooklyn anti-Semitic attack

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police say a Jewish mother was struck in the head while walking with her son in Brooklyn.The 34-year-old woman was walking with her child near West 6th Street and Avenue S in the Gravesend section when she was assaulted.

An NYPD spokeman says 42- year-old Yana Logan, 42, is accused of using her bag to hit the victim in the face.

Police say Logan shouted an anti-Semitic slur before she beat the woman with her bag at Avenue S.

Lt. Thomas Antonetti told CNN that Logan has been charged with assault as a hate crime, acting in a manner injurious to a child under the age of 17, criminal possession of a weapon, and harassment.

Authorities are tracking five incidents this week, including one that occurred on Tuesday in Crown Heights that NYPD released surveillance footage of on Thursday night.

Police say at approximately 1:40 a.m., on Tuesday, a 25-year-old man was walking near 332 Kingston Avenue when a group of men yelled profanities in his direction from across the street.

The victim proceeded to record the individuals on his cell phone, at which time a man approached him and threw an unknown beverage at him before fleeing in unknown direction. 

Officials are currently searching for a suspect in this incident.

Officials arrested 28-year-old Steven Jorge of Miami for an anit-Semitic attack that occurred Monday in Midtown Manhattan.
