NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The hit CW show "Riverdale" has already spawned the Netflix spinoff "The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina," and now another spinoff is in the works, this time, set in New York City.
"Katy Keene follows the lives and loves of four iconic Archie Comics characters — including fashion legend-to-be Katy Keene and singer/songwriter Josie McCoy — as they chase their twenty-something dreams in New York City," the CW said. "This musical dramedy chronicles the origins and struggles of four aspiring artists trying to make it on Broadway, on the runway and in the recording studio."
"Riverdale" is set in the fictitious town of Riverdale, which based on previous storylines, is near New York City -- although it's not the Riverdale in the Bronx. "The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina," meanwhile is based in the fictitious town of Greendale.
And don't expect any crossover between "Riverdale" and "Katy Keene," according to CW president Mark Pedowitz.
"Katy Keene actually takes place years after Riverdale High School," he explained. "So, at the moment, there are no plans to do [crossovers]. And, if any of those Riverdale characters should come to Katy Keene, they will come as an older self."
The first casting of the new show is Ashleigh Murray, who plays songstress Josie McCoy. It has been announced she will leave "Riverdale" to chase her musical ambitions on "Katy Keene."
