NEW YORK (1010 WINS) It wouldn't be Halloween season in New York City without the parade of four legged ghouls on Manhattan's lower east side. This year, the 29th Annual Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade takes place Sunday, October 20, 2019 from noon to 3pm at the East River Park Amphitheater off the FDR Drive.

"I created this parade 29 years ago to raise awareness for the need for dog parks", parade founder Garrett Rosso told 1010 WINS, "and want to thank Councilwoman Carlina Rivera, Heart of Chelsea and the community for keeping the tradition alive."

1010 WINS Midday Anchor Susan Richard will don her Emcee Queen of the Underworld outfit (tiara and all) to preside over this year's festivities. There will be two rounds of competition with 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners named in each, followed by Best In Show from those finalists. The winners will share in more than a thousand dollars in prizes courtesy of Petco.  Honorable mentions will receive a swag bag courtesy of Susan's AllForAnimalsTV video blog.
