TRENTON, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- Gov. Phil Murphy on Monday said limited indoor dining will be allowed to resume and movie theaters and other indoor performance venues will be allowed to reopen starting Friday, Sept. 4.

Restaurant patrons will be required to wear face coverings and social distance, and capacity will be limited to 25 percent, Murphy said.

Capacity will also be limited to either 25 percent or 150 people, whichever is less, at movie theaters and indoor performance venues, he said.

Murphy also increased the capacity limit for religious services and celebrations; weddings; funerals; memorial services; and political activities.

Indoor dining was expected to return with limited capacity in July, but state officials decided to "pause" the reopening due to an uptick in cases in other states that allowed indoor dining.

New Jersey also reported 352 new COVID-19 cases and eight new deaths on Monday, bringing its case total to 191,960 and its death toll to 14,165.

As of Sunday, 484 people in the state were hospitalized with confirmed or probable COVID-19 cases, 103 of whom were in intensive care units and 36 of whom were on ventilators.
