NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – An NYPD officer seen on video punching two teenagers amidst a subway melee has been transferred to a non-enforcement assignment on Monday.

Officers responded to a fight between two large groups at the Jay Street – MetroTech station in Brooklyn.

Several teens resisted arrest and one punched an officer, who has yet to be identified.

Five people were arrested.

Some politicians believed that the officer who was seen punching two people crossed a line, escalating the brawl.

"To me, he went beyond the call of duty," Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams said. "You're not in a boxing match. That is not the goal, and what I saw in that video is clearly outside of any training that I ever received in a police department."City Council Speaker Corey Johnson tweeted, "This video shows a situation that clearly spun out of control, and the public has a right to know how this happened. We need a full investigation, and discipline against any and all officers that acted inappropriately or used excessive force."

The officer had already had multiple complaints filed with the Civilian Complaint Review Board, including some which contained the use of force.
