NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- NYPD officials held a news conference less than 15 hours after Francesco “Franky Boy” Cali, the alleged leader of Gambino crime family, was gunned down in Staten Island.
NYPD Chief of Detectives Dermot Shea shared preliminary information on the investigation, here's what he told reporters:
The NYPD has not ruled out any motive, including any connection to Cali's reputed mob ties.
Shea told reporters, "We're exploring what his prior life, or current life, has connections to the incident last night. It also could have nothing to do with it."
Shea categorized the recent mob-related activate as, "more than we generally have seen."
The Chief of Detectives sounded confident in how the case would be handled, "When you look at the NYPD as a whole this is what we do every day," he continued, "we analyze any incident, whether it has a nexus to domestic violence, to drugs, potentially organized crime, stopping future violence is what we do day in and day out."
