NYPD seek man who punched female subway conductor then flicked cigarette at her

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The NYPD released surveillance footage Thursday of a man they are looking for who punched a female subway conductor and then flicked a lit cigarette at her.

Police say on Aug. 10 at about 7:20 a.m., the suspect approached a 33-year-old subway conductor in the DeKalb Avenue station and asked for directions.

After the victim explained he was on the wrong platform, and he had needed to go to the other side, the man punched the victim through the subway window and flicked a lit cigarette at her.

He then fled.

The victim was treated for bruising to her shoulder at a local hospital.

"This is an example of the unacceptable behavior that our employees can face as they do their job moving millions of New Yorkers every day," said the MTA in a statement. "We're working with the NYPD and hope this perpetrator will be caught and face serious consequences of his actions."

The individual is described as a hispanic male last seen wearing a white T-shirt, black baseball cap, cargo shorts and black sneakers.

Anyone with information is urged to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
