NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- An off-duty NYPD sergeant was arrested Monday morning for allegedly beating up his wife at their Staten Island home, authorities said.
At approximately 3:17 a.m., Sgt. Charles Stewart, 49, was arrested after he allegedly punched his wife during a dispute, police say.
Stewart's wife called 911 but refused medical attention at the scene, according to plice.
Staewart was charged with assault and harrasment, and has been suspended without pay police say.
