NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez took to Twitter early Thursday morning to hit back at a billboard in Times Square that blames her for Amazon's decision to go rein in plans for a new headquarters in Queens.
The billboard says: "25,000 Lost NYC Jobs. $4 Billion in Lost Wages. $12 Billion in Lost Economic Activity for NY. Thanks For Nothing, AOC!"
The sign includes a hashtag: #SocialismTakesCapitalismCreates.
"Few things effectively communicate the power we've built in fighting dark money & anti-worker policies like billionaire-funded groups blowing tons of cash on wack billboards (this one is funded by the Mercers)," Ocasio-Cortez wrote on Twitter.
The tweet ends with a dig at Times Square, often seen as a tourist wasteland by the city's residents: "PS fact that it's in Times Sq tells you this isn't for/by NYers."

The congresswoman says the funder of the billboard, Jobs Creators Network, is tied to the conservative Mercer Family Foundation.
She referenced the TV show "The Office" in a second tweet about the billboard:
Amazon dropped plans to build a second headquarters in Long Island City in the face of opposition from some lawmakers, activists and community groups. Ocasio-Cortez was one of the most vocal critics of the headquarters.
But Amazon's critics aren't letting go -- another anti-Amazon rally was being held Thursday in Queens.
