NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Delays piled up Wednesday morning after a tractor-trailer flipped over on the New Jersey side of the Lincoln Tunnel.
The truck flipped on the outbound helix of Route 495 before dawn and wasn’t removed until around 8 a.m.
The accident led to the closure of the westbound tube, causing outbound traffic to overflow onto the streets and avenues of Manhattan's West Side.
Only buses departing Port Authority were allowed in the outbound tube before one lane was reopened to traffic around 8:30 a.m.
Delays inbound at the Lincoln Tunnel were close to an hour at 8:45 a.m. They were about 45 minutes at the Holland Tunnel and George Washington Bridge.
NJ Transit has been cross-honoring.
