NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The fire at a Queens house that killed three people and injured two others was intentionally set by one of the victims, FDNY said.
"Fire Marshals have determined that yesterday’s fatal fire at 23-49 93 St #Queens was incendiary - an ignitable liquid was used as an accelerant. There were 3 fatalities and two critically injured in the 2-alarm fire. The investigation is ongoing," the FDNY tweeted.
Fire Marshals have determined that 24-year-old David Abreu Nunez used an ignitable liquid as an accelerant to Wednesday's fatal fire at 23-49 93 St in Queens.
Nunez had been staying with the family and doused the kitchen with the flammable liquid after a dispute at the home.
A 6-year-old girl and her 70-year-old great-grandfather were killed, along with Nunez and left two critically injured.
The investigation is ongoing.
The fire, in East Elmhurst, was reported just after 4 p.m. on 93rd Street.
Shortly before 5:30 p.m., the FDNY said the fire was under control.
Over 100 firefighters from 25 units responded to the scene.
