Rutgers University officials issue warning following campus coyote attack

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- Rutgers University officials in New Jersey have warned staff and students about an aggressive coyote in the area after a man was attacked.

The incident occurred on the Livingston campus in New Brunswick at approximately 4 a.m. on Thursday.

According to officials, the victim was walking in the Ecological Preserve on the footpath of Avenue E near Hospital Road when a coyote ran out of the woods and bit him.

The university police is investigating the incident.

The victim was treated and released.

The Rutgers Police Department increased its patrols in the area and in the preserve following the attack.
