NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The Town of Hempstead temporarily halted swimming at its beaches Tuesday afternoon after a shark was spotted.
“Town Beaches are currently red-flagged (no swimming) due to a shark sighting,” the town wrote on Twitter just before 4 p.m. Tuesday.
Earlier in the day, swimming was temporarily restricted due to “decreased visibility caused by fog,” according to the town.
It wasn't immediately clear when swimming would be allowed to resume.
