The sandman hasn't been arriving for a number of cities where stress and other issues are keeping people awake; Dallas, San Francisco, and Charlotte rounded out the top five. New York came in as one of the most well rested cities in the northern U.S.
The study was done by Calm, and co-founder Michael Acton Smith says it may a sign of anxious times.
"There seem more reasons than ever to lose sleep," he said.
Calm's data shows D.C. residents are the most likely to sign up and consume sleep-related content.
"Washington is the undisputed Insomnia Capital of America," says Alex Tew, Calm's co-founder. "No other city comes close."
El Paso residents are getting the best sleep, per the study. Memphis and Louisville were second and third.
