NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Rapper Tekashi 6ix9nine is asking a judge to let him out of prison early over fears of dying from the spread of coronavirus, according to a report from TMZ.

In a letter written to the judge Sunday night from Lance Lazzaro, 6ix9ine's attorney, he cited serious concerns for Tekashi's wellbeing behind bars.

Lazzaro says he wants Tekashi to be released from prison because the rapper suffers from asthma -- making catching coronavirus that much more serious.

The letter also reveals that the rapper was diagnosed with bronchitis and sinusitis late last year and was hospitalized for treatment according to the report.

Lazzaro claims Tekashi has recently had shortness of breath, but prison officials won't let him seek a doctor for medical help.

Tekashi is serving a 24-month sentence and only has a few months left,  but Lazzaro says keeping Tekashi locked up can put his life is on the line.
