Trading halted after markets plunge after S&P 500 index declines 7%

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Trading was halted for 15 minutes on Wednesday afternoon after markets plunge at the New York Stock Exchange.

"The S&P 500 index has declined by 7%, triggering a Level 1 Market Wide Circuit Breaker trading halt. US equity markets will resume after 15 minutes," according to a tweet from the NYSE.

It is the fourth time this month that there was an emergency freeze.
