VIDEO: Car thief takes off, drags man after Brooklyn test drive; victim suffers multiple fractures

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A Brooklyn car thief told a man he was interested in buying his SUV before taking off after the test drive—dragging and injuring the owner of the vehicle as he sped away, police said.

The 20-year-old victim met the suspect on 83rd Street in Dyker Heights to test drive the SUV on the night of Sept. 17, according to police. The two men drove a few blocks to a Gulf gas station at 86th Street and Seventh Avenue.

Video from the gas station released by the NYPD on Saturday shows the suspect lifting the hood of the vehicle as the owner of the vehicle stands nearby.

Moments later, the suspect hops in the driver's seat and hits the gas, video shows.

The owner of the vehicle was holding onto the passenger-side door at the time and was dragged a short distance before losing his grip, police said.

The victim suffered fractures to his pelvis and legs. EMS took him to Maimonides Medical Center in serious but stable condition.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
