NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — New York City has its own wireless network, and it crashed last weekend.
The problem is a software issue similar to what everyone worried about 19 years ago, as Y2K approached.
The network, NYCWiN, has been down since Saturday.
The de Blasio administration ignored a warning from the Department of Homeland Security that the bug could cause the network to crash.
All sorts of agency operations are affected, including the city losing its ability to remotely control about 12,000 traffic lights.
