
WEST BABYLON, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — Two people are dead and four others were hospitalized after a car crash in Long Island’s West Babylon early Saturday morning, Suffolk County Police said.
Michael Desmond, 33, was driving eastbound in a 2017 Kia sedan on Railroad Avenue at about 1:06 a.m. when police said he failed to stop at a red light at the intersection of Great East Neck Road, leading him to smash into a 2025 Kia Seltos that was traveling southbound.
Desmond, of Lindenhurst, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger in the Seltos, 18-year-old Riley Goot, was transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip where he was pronounced dead.
Bella Trezza, 17, was driving the Seltos. She and two other passengers, 18-year-old Austin Trezza and 18-year-old Jack Murphy, were also taken to Good Samaritan University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
Anthony Pagliuca, 16, who was also in the Seltos, suffered serious injuries and was taken to South Shore University Hospital for treatment.
All of the teens are from either Babylon or West Babylon.
Police said that both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
