NEW YORK (1010 WINS) –Police are seeking the public’s help after finding four dead pit bulls on a New Jersey highway last week, suspecting they were involved in dog fighting.
On Feb. 27, New Jersey State Troopers responded to a report of animal cruelty around 11 a.m. on the Garden State Parkway South, on the local roadway in Aberdeen Township, Monmouth County.
New Jersey Turnpike Authority workers discovered four large “Retriever” brand dog food bags containing the dead dogs, according to New Jersey State Police.
After an investigation, police determined that the dogs were pit bull mixes and had injuries consistent with dog fighting.
Anyone who may have witnessed anything or has information about possible dog fighting rings is urged to contact the Troop “D” Holmdel - Criminal Investigation Office at 732-441-4500 ext. 7426.
