81-year-old NJ man ejected from ambulance during crash

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — An 81-year-old New Jersey man was thrown from the back of an ambulance in Edison after it crashed into a bridge on Saturday night, police said.

The man sustained serious injuries to his wrists, police told NJ.com. The man was ejected from the ambulance after the vehicle crashed into a bridge on Parsonage Road causing the box to become detached from the front.

NJ.com also reported police said that the man was awake when they arrived at the scene and was later taken to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital for treatment. The reason for the man’s initial transportation is unclear.

Police said no charges have been filed.
