The Suffolk County SPCA has "investigated many cases of animal sacrifice over the years."
According to a Monday press release, Chief Roy Gross of the Suffolk County SPCA said that animal sacrifice is the ritual death and offering of an animal as part of a religious ceremony.

Suffolk County Police's 2nd Precinct called the county's SPCA after the beheaded animals were found on the side of Round Swamp Road nearly 100 feet south of Exit 39 of the Northern State Parkway in Melville.
Detectives responded to the scene and discovered the partially decomposed remains of 5 decapitated chickens and 2 decapitated goats. Also found were fruits and vegetables.
A $2,000 reward is being offered by the Suffolk County SPCA for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone responsible for "unjustifiably harming, mutilating or killing an animal."
If anyone witnesses any incident of animal cruelty or neglect in Suffolk County, they are urged to contact the Suffolk County SPCA at (631) 382-7722.
