Officials on Tuesday, announced that Cannone's vehicle was found in the parking lot of the Skylands Stadium in Frankford Township, Sussex County. His belongings, including a wallet and phone, were found nearby.

At around 11 a.m. on Sunday, hunters alerted state police after possible human remains were found nearly 1,000 feet into the woods behind the Frankford Municipal Building, according to Gregory Mueller, Sussex County's first assistant prosecutor.

The body was in an area not often traversed just north of August Hill Road near the Frankford Municipal Building, Mueller said.

There was no obvious signs of trauma and no crime is suspected, Mueller added.

"The cause and manner of death is still under investigation, however, at this time investigators do not suspect foul play," Mueller said.

“Over the last five months, we conducted multiple searches, and door to door canvassing for witnesses in an attempt to locate Daniel,” township police said in a Facebook post. “We send our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time.”
