Cuomo, 51, applied to a volunteer position at the East Hampton Fire Department in Suffolk County, two sources told the Daily Beast in a report published Monday.
The “Cuomo Prime Time” star’s application was withdrawn not long after he met with fire chiefs, according to the sources.
One source said Cuomo appeared “eager” to take on the volunteer position but reconsidered after hearing about the time commitment involved.
EHFD Chief Duane Forrester told the outlet it’s a “very time-consuming” role and includes requirements like monthly meetings and drills.
“That’s why we don’t have many celebrities,” Forrester added.
Cuomo lives with his wife in ritzy Southampton, about a 30-minute drive from East Hampton.
A rep for Cuomo declined to comment to the Daily Beast.
CNN fired Cuomo, the host of the network’s most popular prime time show, last December after a New York Attorney General’s report publicly revealed new details about how he helped his brother, former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, strategize to fight sexual harassment allegations.
Cuomo then sued CNN for $125 million, alleging his bosses knew full well how he advised his elder sibling.
Cuomo resurfaced in Ukraine earlier this month before teasing a comeback with shirtless, flexing, cigar-smoking pics on Instagram.
"Something's coming ... summer '22," he wrote over the photos.
