HARTFORD, CT (1010 WINS) -- Connecticut will expand COVID-19 vaccine eligibility to include ages 16 and up on April 1, a few days earlier than anticipated, Gov. Ned Lamont said Thursday.
The state had originally planned to expand eligibility to ages 16 to 44 on April 5. Scheduling will open to ages 45 to 54 on March 19.
"The speed at which Connecticut's vaccine providers have been getting doses out is enabling us to accelerate our vaccine program even further," Lamont wrote on Twitter.
"Therefore, we now plan to expand to the final group of adults (ages 16+ several days earlier on April 1," he added.
Connecticut's age-based vaccine rollout "has contributed to a more rapid decline in people dying from COVID compared to our neighboring states," Lamont noted.
