NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A driver is in custody after striking and critically injuring a cyclist on a Bronx street Tuesday night, according to officials.
The incident happened just after 9 p.m. near the intersection of Webster Avenue and East Gun Hill Road, in the Norwood section authorities said.
Police said the 21-year-old driver struck the cyclist before crashing into an unoccupied NYPD vehicle.
The cyclist was rushed to an area hospital where they were listed in critical condition, officials said.
The driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to an area hospital after the collision and was considered to be in police custody.
Two passengers in the vehicle were taken into custody, police added.
An investigation remains ongoing.
