NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The body of a woman who worked as an escort was found inside a plastic barrel in New Jersey last week — and police say someone transported the barrel to the Garden State from a Wall Street building via U-Haul, according to a report.
The 42-year-old woman's body was found inside the barrel on a street in Ridgefield Park on Aug. 13, New Jersey police and NYPD sources told the New York Post.
Someone dumped the barrel onto the street from a U-Haul van, the outlet reported.
When police traced the U-Haul's movements and reviewed surveillance tape, they discovered a man had loaded the barrel into the van after rolling it out of 95 Wall Street, a building in Manhattan's Financial District, on a luggage rack on Aug. 12, according to the outlet.
When a security guard at the building asked about the barrel, the man reportedly told the guard he was moving.
Security footage showed the woman walking into the building with the man that same night, the outlet reported.
No one had been arrested in connection with the woman's death as of Thursday. An investigation is ongoing.
