
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A Connecticut man who fatally stabbed his co-worker in 2020 was sentenced to 40 years in prison on Friday, according to court records.
Elijah David Bertrand, 23, was found guilty for the murder of Nathan D. Burk, 28, in July.
Bertrand, of Bristol, who was working as a UPS driver at the time, fatally stabbed fellow UPS driver Burk on Dec. 22, 2020, as Burk was returning a delivery truck to a UPS facility in Watertown, according to Maureen T. Platt, State’s Attorney for the Judicial District of Waterbury.
On that day, state troopers responded to what they thought was a crash involving a UPS truck on Route 8 north where Burk was found and taken to a hospital where he later died, according to police.
Bertrand was arrested at a Plymouth gas station later that same day, according to police.
"We are deeply saddened by the loss of our colleague, and are cooperating with the investigation," Matthew O'Connor, a spokesperson for UPS had said back in 2022.

Burk was a fisherman, quadist and sport cyclist, accordind to his Chase Parkway Memorial obituary. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandmother, mother, sister and his nephew, Jax. Nathan was a diligent worker, and a devoted and loving friend to many.
