NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Supporters have raised more than $46,000 for the family of a 3-year-old New Jersey boy who was mauled to death by his neighbor’s pit bulls.
Aziz Ahmed and his mother were in the fenced yard behind their Carteret home on Tuesday when their neighbors’ two dogs got under the fence and attacked them, CBS New York reported.
The two were helicoptered to a nearby hospital, where the boy was pronounced dead, authorities said. His mother was listed in critical condition after the attack.
After the boy’s death, the boy’s father’s employer, Coney Island Auto Parts, started a GoFundMe page for the family.
The page had raised more than $46,100 as of Thursday afternoon.
“I never had the honor of meeting little Aziz but I do know his father Tanveer, who is a hardworking man and just recently moved his family from Brooklyn NY to New Jersey for a better life,” the employer wrote. “We [are] calling upon the kindness of family, friends and strangers to help the Ahmed family in this difficult time.”
Police told the New York Post the dogs were euthanized after police officers who responded to the home shot them.
