EAST MEADOW, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — A Nassau County police officer was injured when a 40-year-old man attempted to resist arrest in East Meadow on Sunday night for his role in a domestic dispute.
After police responded to the incident, officials said it was determined Matthew Mulqueen was involved in a dispute with a 35-year-old woman and damaged objects in the Gladmore Street home.
He then allegedly refused to comply with their commands when officers tried to arrest him.
Mulqueen was ultimately placed into custody after "resisting," police said.
An officer suffered a laceration to his left hand during the arrest, and he was treated at a local hospital.
Mulqueen is charged with second-degree assault, two counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief, third-degree criminal mischief, second-degree obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest.
He was due to be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Monday.
