HOLBROOK, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — A substitute teacher at a Long Island middle school was fired after conducting an “inappropriate activity” during an anatomy lesson, the Sachem School District announced Wednesday.
The district did not identify the former Seneca Middle School teacher or specify what the lesson entailed, but said the teacher used “poor judgement" by choosing the activity.
Sachem Superintendent Christopher Pellettieri said the activity was used in three separate seventh-grade classes on Tuesday.
"It was brought to our attention today, that yesterday a 7th grade science leave replacement teacher at Seneca Middle School used poor judgment while introducing new material on anatomy,” Pellettieri told parents. “An inappropriate activity was utilized in three separate classes yesterday. This individual will not return to the classroom and will no longer be an employee of the district."
