NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – Police arrested one of two suspects on Thursday in the killing of a deli owner who was shot during a robbery on Staten Island on July 8.
Yaseen Bassuny, 21, surrendered and was charged with murder, attempted robbery, and hindering prosecution.
The two suspects are seen on surveillance video trying to unsuccessfully first enter a smoke shop shortly before entering Khateeb's deli.
The victim, 35-year-old Bassam Khateeb, was working at the deli alone when two men entered his business around 8 p.m. and tried to rob him, police said.
They shot Khateeb in the chest, and he was rushed to Richmond University Medical Center but couldn't be saved.

A second video showed them entering the deli and then leaving empty handed after the fatal shooting.
The robbers fled the area in a red Jeep Cherokee, according to police.
Police are still searching for Bassuny's accomplice.
Khateeb co-owned the deli and had a wife and two children.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
