NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – One man is dead and another is in critical condition after they were assaulted by a driver during a dispute in Brooklyn early Thursday, the NYPD said as the search for him continued.
The two men—ages 66 and 52—were passengers in a sedan, possibly a for-hire or livery vehicle, when the driver pulled over outside a home on West 9th Street, just north of Avenue T, around 4:30 a.m. All three men exited the vehicle and an argument ensued, police said.
The driver assaulted them during the dispute, repeatedly punching them both in the head, and then took off in his car, according to cops. The victims were assaulted "pretty badly" in the attack, sources said.

They were transported to Maimonides Medical Center, where the 66-year-old was pronounced dead on arrival and the 52-year-old was listed in critical condition. The deceased man hasn't been identified.
The FDNY initially said five people were found unconscious inside a nearby home on West 9th Street. However, the department later clarified that the two men were the only people injured at the scene. It's unclear if the men have any connection to the home or street.
There was a large police presence near the home as the investigation continued Thursday morning, with a helicopter overhead and an area blocked off by police tape. Detectives are reviewing surveillance video.
