NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 65-year-old man attacked his neighbors — fatally stabbing a 45-year-old man and injuring a 35-year-old woman, according to police.
Officers arrested Jose Ortiz at the Center for Family Support housing complex for people with developmental disabilities where the stabbing took place and charged him with murder.
Ortiz confronted his neighbors with a noise complaint at their apartment on University Avenue near West 167th Street in Highbridge just before 9 p.m., according to police.
He stabbed the woman in the arm, and, when Tyrone Quick came out to see what the commotion was about, Ortiz stabbed him in the chest, authorities said.
EMS rushed both victims to NYC Health and Hospitals/Lincoln, where the Quick was pronounced dead. The woman is in stable condition.
Police took Ortiz into custody and charged him with murder, attempted murder, manslaughter, attempted manslaughter, assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
