NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- One man was killed and a woman was injured in Queens Thursday night after a driver slammed into a scooter and then the outdoor dining area of a restaurant.
Police say it happened at Rosatoro restaurant in Astoria shortly around 7:45 p.m.
A 60-year-old woman behind the wheel of a a 2013 Mercedes-Benz C-300 was traveling on 35th Street near the intersection of Ditmars Boulevard, police said.
That's where she allegedly struck a 37-year-old man on a 2019 Yamaha Chappy, before striking two parked cars and smashing through the outdoor dining space on the corner.
The scooter operator was pronounced dead at Elmhurst Hospital. He was later identified as Xing Lin of Queens.
A 32-year-old woman inside the restaurant who was struck by debris suffered injuries to both of her legs. She was taken to Elmhurst Hospital in stable condition.
The driver remained at the scene and was taken to Elmhurst Hospital in an unknown condition.
Police said no arrests had been reported as of Friday.
