NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — Two people were killed in separate traffic crashes across the city early Sunday morning, police said.

The first crash occurred around 12:40 a.m. in Queens, police said. Terrell Lumpkin, 28, was driving at a high speed at that time in a 2013 Infiniti G37 when he lost control heading south on Guy R Brewer Boulevard, according to police.
Lumpkin struck a wooden pole and then careened into a metal light pole at the intersection of 119 Avenue in South Jamaica.
First responders discovered Lumpkin at the scene with severe head and body trauma. He was transported to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
A 26-year-old male passenger in the vehicle suffered a cut to his head and was transported to the same hospital in stable condition, police said.
A second person was killed several hours later on the Belt Parkway in Brooklyn when a woman was struck by a hit-and-run car, police said.
Emma Risper, 59, was heading south on the Belt around 3:05 a.m. in her Chrysler Town & Country when she pulled over on the right shoulder just before Exit 6, police said.
Risper then exited her vehicle, at which point she was hit by the driver in an unidentified vehicle, police said. The driver continued on without stopping. Police believe Risper might have pulled over to tend to her disabled vehicle.
Risper was found with severe trauma to her body and was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Coney Island, where she was pronounced dead, according to police.
