2 men killed minutes apart in Brooklyn, over a dozen wounded in overnight NYC shootings

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Two men were killed and more than a dozen people were wounded in shootings across New York City overnight, police said Sunday.

The two fatal shootings happened minutes apart in Brooklyn.


A 32-year-old man was shot at the corner of Ralph Avenue and E. 79th Street in Canarsie just before 4:30 a.m.

Responding officers found the man with multiple gunshot wounds outside a Dunkin' Donuts.

The victim, identified as Eirvin Monroe of Brooklyn, was pronounced dead at Brookdale Hospital.

Minutes later, just before 4:40 a.m., a 26-year-old man was shot in the chest at Utica Avenue and Sterling Place in Crown Heights, police said.

He was rushed to Kings County Hospital but did not survive. He has not been identified.

No arrests have been reported in either fatal shooting.

Ten people, including seven bystanders and three known gang members, were also wounded in what police called a "coordinated" gang-related shooting in North Corona, Queens, on Saturday night.

Shootings overnight also left a 55-year-old man wounded in St. Albans, Queens, and a 35-year-old man hurt in Kips Bay, Manhattan, according to the New York Post. Two other people wounded in gun violence were reportedly taken to Harlem Hospital.
