NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – The NYPD released images of two suspects Thursday in a pair of unprovoked subway attacks in Brooklyn and Queens in which riders were sucker punched in the face.

The transit assaults in Downtown Brooklyn and Jamaica happened a couple weeks apart and aren't believed to be connected.

In the more recent attack last Friday morning, a 37-year-old man was on a northbound F train platform at the 169th Street station in Jamaica when another man picked a fight with him and punched him twice in the face, police said.

The victim suffered minor injuries to his mouth and declined further medical attention from EMS at the scene.

The second attacked happened on the evening of March 30 on a southbound A train at the Jay Street–MetroTech station in Downtown Brooklyn.

The victim, a 40-year-old man, sat down next to his attacker, who immediately got up and punched him in the face, police said.

The suspect fled the station on foot before EMS arrived to treat the victim, who wasn't seriously injured.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
