The incident occurred at 729 7th Avenue around 10 a.m. on the 18th floor. Two workers fell through the floor to the 17th story after part of the floor collapsed.

Both were taken to nearby hospitals. Their conditions were not immediately clear.

The injured men were working on restoring the building’s façade, the city's Department of Buildings told NBC 4, but were exceeding the scope of the permits issued with the work they were doing at the time of the accident.

A stop work order was issued by the DOB and the contractors were issued violations.

The building was the cause of another accident, in 2019, when a prominent architect—60-year-old Erica Tishman—was killed by a decorative piece of the building which fell and hit her in the head.
