NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- A man was arrested after nearly 30 dogs were discovered in "inhumane" conditions inside a Brooklyn home Wednesday night, officials said.

"27 dogs were rescued yesterday after being found in inhumane conditions in Brooklyn by their owner. In collaboration with the @NYPD79Pct, Neighborhood Coordination Officers, the @ASPCA, & Veterinary Forensic Technicians, the animals were seized & are receiving the care they need," the NYPD tweeted Friday.
Jason Nunez, 27, is accused of keeping the dogs neglected and stuffed into tiny, dirty cages in a home located on Kent Ave. near Park Ave. in Bedford-Stuyvesant.
He was charged with one count of aggravated cruelty to animals, 28 counts of torture to animals and 28 counts of neglect of impounded animals, the NYPD said.
The dogs are now in the care of the ASPCA after the organization assisted with the rescue of the dogs.

“Upon arriving at the property, it was clear these animals needed to be
immediately removed from the filthy environment where they were living so
they could receive much-needed medical treatment and care,” said David
Little, ASPCA Senior Law Enforcement Liaison. “The ASPCA is grateful to be
in a position where we could quickly mobilize when we learned our partners at the NYPD needed our assistance with their immediate rescue, and we thank the NYPD and Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office for prioritizing animal
welfare in New York City.”
